Capital Lacrosse Club Teams (2017-2018 Season)
At Downingtown West High School in Pennsylvania, Bethany was a three sport athlete in soccer, lacrosse, and swimming. She was a member of both Downingtown West's State Championship soccer team and District swim team in 2006. The same year, Bethany captained the lacrosse team and earned the Charles M. Way All-American Award. Additionally, she was named Academic All-American in 2005 and 2006. She then attended University of Pennsylvania from 2006-2010. When she was a member of the team, the Quakers won three Ivy League titles and competed in three NCAA Final Fours. In 2009, Bethany was awarded the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Academic Award. During her time at Penn, she also coached for PA Express in 2008 and 2009. After graduation, Bethany moved to Washington, D.C., worked as a healthcare consultant, and is now pursuing her doctorate in epidemiology at Johns Hopkins. Bethany has coached two other Capital teams prior to this season.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Christine was a multi-sport athlete at Collegiate School, playing lacrosse, volleyball, and running indoor track. As a 4-year starter and standout midfielder on the lacrosse team, Christine garnered multiple team, league, and state level accolades, including First Team All-State her senior year. In 2010 Christine trained with England's U-19 National Team. Christine went on to play midfield and defense at Harvard University. After graduation, Christine began her career in the Arlington area and currently lives in Alexandria.
Maggie was on the US Lacrosse Squad from 1990-1997 and was a member of the 1993 and 1997 U.S. World Cup Championship Teams. She was co-captain of Harvard University's 1990 NCAA Division 1 National Championship Team. While at Harvard, she was a two-time First Team All-American, a four-time First Team All-Ivy, the 1990 Ivy League Player of the Year and the 1987 Ivy League Rookie of the Year. Maggie was awarded a NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship for outstanding achievement as a scholar and an athlete. Maggie is a member of the 2015 induction class for the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame and she has been inducted into the Hall of the Fame for the Potomac Chapter of US Lacrosse, Harvard University, and St. Stephens & St. Agnes School. Prior to attending the University of Virginia School of Law, she was an assistant coach at Harvard University for one season and the head coach at Episcopal High School for two seasons. Maggie coached the Stars 2018 Blue team for three years and was a youth coach for the Alexandria Lacrosse Club for six years. Maggie is currently an attorney in private practice and she and her husband, Jack Fontham, reside in Alexandria with their two children.
Brittany comes to Capital with an ever-deepening coaching resume.
Most recently she has been a part of the great successes enjoyed by Bishop Ireton High Schools as an Assistant Varsity Coach. During her tenure at BI the Cardinals have won two WCAC Championships (2016, 2017) and most recently the VISAA State Championship (2017). Her most recent club coaching experience was with Crash Lacrosse where she was the head coach for the Class of 2018 team. Prior to joining the BI coaching staff, Brittany was the head varsity coach at South Lakes High School in Reston, VA. She lead the Seahawks to their most successful season in program history. Prior to her tenure at SLHS she was an assistant varsity coach at her alma mater, Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria, VA. While at Hayfield she helped coach the team to three conference championship games. As a player Brittany enjoyed success on the field at Old Dominion University ('08) as well as in high school at Hayfield ('04).
She resides in Arlington, VA and is a Project Manager for Hogan Lovells. Brittany graduated from Old Dominion University with a BS in Political Science and a BA in Philosophy.
A native of Springfield, Virginia, Brian graduated from Longwood University in 1995 and went on to earn a Master’s in Education at George Mason University. While in school at Longwood, Brian was the Women's Lacrosse Assistant Coach where, in 1993, his team had a perfect 12-0 record. Brian has been the Varsity Girls Lacrosse Head Coach at West Springfield High School since 1997 where he has compiled a career record of 173-70 over 17 seasons. In 2007, he led the Spartans to a 17-1 overall record, won the Patriot District Championship and Brian was named Patriot District and Northern Region Coach of the Year. He has coached Mid-Atlantic teams at the US Lacrosse National Schoolgirl Tournament six times. Brian has coached for Capital Lacrosse since 2007 and he and his wife Leah, reside in Springfield, Virginia.
Originally from outside of Philadelphia, Emily attended Radnor High School where she was a three-sport varsity athlete, playing tennis, ice hockey and lacrosse. In 2007, Emily was a goalkeeper for the U.S. U-19 national team. She recorded a shutout in the team's gold medal victory at the IFWLA World Championship in Peterborough, Canada. Emily went on to play lacrosse at The College of William & Mary, where she was a four-year starting goalkeeper. She garnered All-CAA second team and rookie team in 2008, the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award (2008 & 2010) and was elected team captain by her teammates for three consecutive seasons (2009, 2010, 2011). She holds the school record for career saves at 611. Emily graduated from William & Mary with a degree in History and Secondary Education. She currently works as a middle school teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools, and is pursuing a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Virginia Tech. Emily is also entering her third season as an assistant coach for the West Springfield High School Varsity Girls' Lacrosse team.
A pioneer for women's lacrosse in the Northern VA area, Micky helped start the first varsity girls lacrosse team at Fairfax High School in 1990. Entering college at GMU in 1991, Micky played on the club field hockey and club lacrosse teams for two years. In the Fall of 1993, GMU Women's Lacrosse went from club status to a Division 1 NCAA official team. Micky was part of the inaugural year and second season as a starting attack player for the GMU Patriots. After graduating from GMU with a degree in Physical Education, Micky went on to coach HS varsity lacrosse for three years. She took 13 years off to raise her three boys with her husband Bryan. Currently Micky is coaching at Robinson Secondary School as the JV head coach. She is proud to be part of the 2015 and 2016 State Championship Girls Lacrosse teams at Robinson!
Originally from upstate New York (Syracuse and Buffalo), Tim was a three sport athlete playing football, basketball and lacrosse. Tim then went on to play defense for Ithaca College. After graduating from Ithaca with a Degree in Health and Physical Education, Tim has been teaching and coaching for Fairfax County Public Schools. Tim was head varsity boys coach at Lee High School before he had two daughters which led him to learn and love the girls' game. Since then he has coached at the youth, high school and club levels. Tim has been an assistant coach for Robinson Secondary School since 2012 and helped lead the girls in back to back 6A state championships. He is also US Lacrosse level 1 and 2 certified.
Coach Bill Lewis is originally from Long Island and brings with him a lifetime of knowledge, skills and love of the game. After high school Coach Lewis joined the United States Coast Guard, where he has served for 16 years. His travels in the Coast Guard, has given him the opportunity to coach both boys & girls of all ages throughout the United States. He has served in both Head and Assistant coaching roles at the high school Varsity level and club lacrosse in Miami, San Francisco, and in Northern Virginia and is currently the Girls Lacrosse Head Coach at W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax Virginia. He has also coached at the youth level in Maryland, California, Florida, New York and various leagues throughout Northern Va. Coach Lewis has Level I & Level II coaching certifications, and is training to be a US Lacrosse Continuing Education Trainer.
